WOMEN OF THE BIBLE—Answers to the quiz: The names untangled:

1. VEE————————Eve (Genesis 4:1)

..........Eve was the woman God formed from Adam's rib, Genesis 2:21-23. He made her for a helpmeet for him—a companion, a partner. Eve is the mother of mankind.

2. RAYM———————Mary (Luke 1:39-43)

..........Mary was God's chosen virgin to become Jesus's mother. Luke 1:28, God's angel appeared to her and said, "Thou are highly favored. Blessed art thou among woman."

3. PHARPOZI——————Zipporah (Exodus 2:21

..........Zipporah was Moses's wife. She was the daughter of the Jethro (Reuel), the prince (priest) of Midian, the place to which Moses fled after he killed the Egyptian who was beating an Israelite slave. (Exodus 2:12).

..........Hannah was the wife of Elkanah, the mother of Samuel. Hannah was barren, and cried before the Lord for a son, promising Him that if He heard her request, she would give her son to Him for service. God answered her prayer. When Samuel was weaned, Hannah took him to the priest, Eli, and there he stayed, waiting on Eli, and eventually taking his place as priest and judge of Israel.

..........Jezebel was the wife of Ahab, king of Israel. She is known as one of the most wicked women who ever lived, and prodded wicked King Ahab to do many evil things. She continually sought the prophet, Elijah, to destroy him. She was eventually thrown from her balcony, and the dogs ate her. (II Kings 9: 30-35).

6. NECEEU—————-—Eunice (II Timothy 1:5)

..........Eunice was the mother of Timothy, Paul's spiritual son, and helper.

7. DAILY——————-—Lydia (Acts 16:14)

..........Lydia was a seller of purple. She lived in Thyatira. She was converted under Paul's ministry.
Paul and Silas stayed at her place more than once.

8. SOIL-————————Lois (II Timothy 1:5)

..........Lois was Timothy's grandmother, a woman of great faith, who passed on her faith to her daughter, Eunice, and grandson, Timothy.

..........Elizabeth was the mother of John the Baptist, Christ's forerunner. She was the cousin of Mary, the mother of Jesus. Mary went and stayed with her after the angel had announced to Mary that she was the chosen virgin, to bear God's Son. The baby leaped in Elizabeth's womb, when Elizabeth heard the news that Mary had to tell her.

..........Sarah was Abraham's wife. God told Abraham to change her name from Sarai to Sarah. Sarah means "Princess". Sarah became the mother of God's chosen nation, Israel.
