A Thanksgiving Gift

The Miracle of Life

Thank you God for the love I see
Of friends who always surround me
Thank you for the sky so blue
And bringing me a miracle or two

Thank you God, in my heart you stay
For me, it has always been just that way
Thank you God, for the food you give
On this special day I still live

Thank you God for the air I breathe
For all the flowers and all the trees
Thank you God for the birds that sing
Thank you for letting me hear
Such beautiful things

Thank you God for my voice
That so many people read
About my life, in my poetry
Thank you this Thanksgiving Day
For giving me one more birthday

Thank you most of all, for creating me
So I could get close to those in need
Thank you God for holding my hand
Now I am alive, to write again.

The story behind: The Miracle of Life.

In March of 2006 my kidney's shut down. I went in renal failure. I almost died. I had earth angels all around me telling me I was here for a reason. All I talked about in the three weeks I was there was about "God's art, which any one can see if they open their eyes and looked at the beauty God made. I told them if they looked at God's art they could see His great love for us. You see I am in a wheelchair because of nerve damage, so I rarely go out only to the doctors. I wanted people to see that every day they see the beauty of a sunset or a flower and really do not look at it. They just take it for granted. I, who cannot go out, see like a blind person. Yet I love what I remember before I became ill. God gave me a gift. When I was a child, I was in and out of school. The teachers and my father and his family told me I would be nothing but a failure. I was unteachable. Thank God, the King of Kings did not believe it. When I go to heaven and God say's to me "I gave you a gift and how did you use your gift"? I can say, "Yes God, You gave me a gift and I used your gift well. I am glad I touched you. I hope I can touch others, for that is God's wish.

Here now, is the poem that turned my life around.

GOD'S ART

God painted the sky's in the morning sunset.
It takes my breath away.
I see the golden sun
Rising from the earth today.

The heavens are purple, yellow, green and pink.
When I see this beauty,
I cannot help but think:
I imagine all the fish of many sizes
In the sea forevermore

The dolphins are flying in the air,
Is that what make the water so deep?
I am sure I saw a mermaid waving to me.
All these things are a gift
God has given anyone to see

As I walk along the walkway,
I can smell the flowers.
I must take a look: there are roses, tulips, daisies
The colors of the rainbow.
The redbreast robin, the meadowlark at play,
The nightingale, all sing so lovely in the day.

I feel the grass, beneath my feet.
It feels so good as my toes go in so deep. I watch the falling leaves as they float without a sound,
Yellow, brown, and green flying above me,
Until they touch the ground.
God's art is the greatest masterpiece
I have ever found.

I am so glad He let me share the sunset,
With the colors of the night.
I live in a world God made for us,
So much to make us happy and keep us calm,
The beauty a picture of God's art from above
Given to us made out of love.
