I HURT ALL OVER
Mariane Holbrook
NOTE FROM HELEN: This poem is dedicated to all the hurting people. There are so many. Mariane suffers a great deal, but she does not let her suffering keep her down. Without complaining, she sends out encouragement to all her fellow-sufferers. Thanks for sharing, Marianne. God bless you.

I hurt all over, Jesus, with this pain that won’t recede,
My heart cries out in anguish hoping you will meet my need.
It seems that it’s been oh, so long since I’ve had some relief,
I’d welcome any respite, Lord, no matter if it’s brief.
“Dear Child,” you surely know how much I understand your pain.
‘Twas I who suffered on that cross with pain I can’t explain.
I haven’t turned my back on you; I hear your every cry.
I hear you asking o’er and o’er if I would tell you “why?”
“You know that heaven was prepared for such a child as you.
I’ve chosen you to be My bride and I will see you through.
And you’re not being punished for some deeds you might have done.
For they have been forgiven and your new life has begun.
“The pain that you are feeling now is the refiner’s fire
So you’ll become the bride that any bridegroom would desire.
So trust in Me, don’t give up hope, the day’s approaching fast
When I will hold you close and you will be My bride at last.”
