Butterflies and Memories

As butterflies flit about
On lovely spring days,
In carefree, graceful waltzes,
Clad in colorful array...
So my memories dance about
Through my heart and my mind,
But like dreams upon waking
They fade in due time.
Like friends who have brightened
A lonely afternoon,
I bid them to stay...
Must you leave me so soon?
But then comes this thought,
Just a whisper, so still...
Preserve all thy memories
With parchment and quill.

So I opened my book
And started to write
The memories and stories of
Linda Lee Wright.
Memories, once dim,
From neglect and long years,
Stepped out from the past
Bringing laughter and tears.
Their worth has no measure,
And if it be told,
They've brought me more pleasure
Than diamonds and gold.
My memories, now captured,
Can never depart...
They will always and ever
Be at home in my heart.

Children by the Sea
Far away on a western shore
in a city by the sea,
a child was born to navy folk...
her name was Linda Lee.
And far away on an eastern shore,
where seasides glisten white,
a child was born in a navy town...
his name was James Fredrick Wright.
But more than miles did separate
these children by the sea:
their blood, their faith, their hopes, their dreams.. .
they grew so differently!
But youth cares not for differences.
They say that love is blind.
Fate's wind blew hard; their paths did cross...
Their hearts became entwined.

Youth's folly sent a stormy sea.
The children sailed for years.
Yet love did grow aboard their ship,
despite the pain and tears.
For Mercy, too, sail stormy seas
to calm life's angry waves.
She led their ship to Calvary's Port
and taught them Jesus saves!
Two children born on distant shores,
in cities by the sea,
two hearts entwined forevermore...
Jim means the world to me.
Moonbeams
O fair and mellow Moon of night,
Preferred above the Sun of day;
For eyes can't bear that gaudy light
But thou, O Moon, invite my gaze.
O vain Sun, so strong, so bright,
Dispels all lesser celestial rays.
But humble Moon which shines by night
Bids stars come out to play...
Moonbeams peer through swaying branches
Flirting with romantic glances
While stars are twinkling in joyful dances
Filling my heart with praise!
