Author's Bio: I am a retired nurse and I live in Shreveport, Louisiana. I was born and raised near the Cherokee Indian Reservation in the Great Smokey Mountains, in Asheville, referred to as "the land of the sky." Mt. Mitchell is the highest mountain east of the Rockies!
That old Rugged Cross is so easy to bear
when with others we share
together with love
and strength from above.

When times are bad
and we're downcast and sad
praying with friends or alone,
God's divine mercy is shown.

When hope seems far away
and you cannot face another day
words uttered, but you cannot say:
then within your heart, you must pray.

When others forsake you
and nothing seems true
there is always someone to care,
if that ole Cross you are willing to share.

Don't worry or fret
about things that haven't happened yet
don't look back, but ahead
sharing that ole rugged Cross instead.

I look to the mountains and sky
knowing God is there with His watchful eye.
I cling to that ole Cross with it's blood stained beams
each day for strength it seems.

This old Cross I gladly share
with others with burdens to bear.
Our hearts made lighter
and our tomorrows much brighter!
