The Spirit Of A Sound Mind
Helen Dowd

2nd Timothy 1:7 tells us we do not have the spirit of fear but instead that we have the spirit of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

If it’s FEAR who’s been your master,
And he holds you in his grip;
If you’re cringing from disaster—
Brought upon you by FEAR’s whip;
Then it’s time to stop your shrinking.
Change the MASTER of your soul.
Fill your mind with Christ-filled thinking.
Allow GOD to take control.

Psalms 27:1-5, "The LORD is my light and my salvation: whom shall I fear? The LORD is the strength of my life--of whom shall I be afraid?...When the wicked, even mine enemies and my foes, came upon me to eat up my flesh, they stumbled and fell...Though an host (an army) should encamp against me (besiege me), my heart shall not fear: though war should rise (break out) against me, in this (even then) will I be confident...One thing have I desired (asked) of the LORD, that I will seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold (to gaze upon) the beauty of the LORD and to inquire (seek Him) in his temple...For in the time (day) of trouble he will hide me (keep me safe) in his pavilion (dwelling): in the secret of his tabernacle shall he hide me (He will hide me in the shelter of his tabernacle) and set me upon a rock."

“Wait on the Lord,” the psalmist says
“And He will strengthen thee.”
He’ll set you on the highest rock.
From fears He’ll set you free.
So look to Him. He is your Light:
The road He’ll help you see.
So what’s to fear when God is near?
To His pavilion flee.
