Who Is Your Master?
by Helen Dowd

Do you ever just sit, letting your mind go blank? I don't mean meditating. If you are meditating, especially on God's Word, then your mind isn't blank, or idle.

Satan loves an idle mind.

May your mind be never idle.
II Timothy 2:15—(NIV) "Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a workman who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth. "

Satan loves to use an unbridled tongue.

May your tongue have on a bridle.
Psalm 141:3"Set a watch, O Lord, before my mouth; keep the door of my lips."
Ecclesiastes 5:2"Be not rash with thy mouth…"

Satan loves to whisper idle gossip in your ears.

May your ears be tuned to listen for the good.
Revelation 2:7"He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith to the churches…"

Satan loves to make use of idle fingers.

May you occupy your fingers
Doing kind deeds that will linger.

Proverbs 31:13"She seeketh wool, and flax, and worketh willingly with her hands."

Satan will lure idle feet in paths of unrighteousness.

May your feet be brave to go where few feet would.
Luke 1:79"To guide our feet into the way of peace."
Ephesians 6:15"And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;"

Psalm 1

"Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.
But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.
And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.
The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away.
Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.
For the Lord knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish.
