“Fear ye not me? Saith the Lord: will ye not tremble at my presence, which have placed the sand for the bound of the sea by a perpetual decree, that it cannot pass it: and though the waves thereof toss themselves, yet can they not prevail; though they roar, yet can they not pass over it?” Jeremiah 5:22At our internet class the teacher gave us a puzzle:
What is greater than God?
More evil than the devil?
The rich don’t need it.
The poor have it.
If you eat it you will die.
What am I?”
I protested to the teacher. “There is NOTHING greater than God. I don’t like this puzzle.” The teacher said, “Have an open mind. The clue is in the first sentence. The answer is staring you in the face.”
And it was! But I was too caught up in the puzzle that I couldn’t see the answer.
Sometimes the obvious stares us right in the face, but we are too blind to see it.
God says: “Don’t you respect me? Can’t you see me? Can’t you hear me? Don’t you know who I am? Shouldn’t you be trembling in my presence? I am the one who has put sand around the ocean so that it can’t pass over. Even the waves respect me. Though they toss, they cannot overcome My force. Though they roar they cannot cross My boundaries. I am the Lord. There is NOTHING—NO ONE greater. So why don’t you open your eyes? Why don’t you see Me? Why don’t you hear Me? Why don’t you listen to Me?”
Sometimes we are so caught up with the puzzles of life that we can’t see the solutions, even though they are staring us in the face. There is NOTHING—NO ONE greater than God. Let us show Him respect. Let us listen to what HE has to say.
